In its most recent report, the IMD warned of heavy rain in numerous states and UT. On October 20–22, it will most likely pass through the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. On October 20, it is also quite probable to pass across Karnataka and Lakshadweep. On October 23, heavy rain may fall in Odisha.

In the next 24 hours, conditions are likely to be right for the Southwest Monsoon to leave more of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and the rest of the northeastern states.

A cyclonic circulation is found over and around the North Andaman Sea and extends down to mid-tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form in the next 12 hours over the southeastern Bay of Bengal and the northern Andaman Sea. It is likely to move west-northwest and become a depression in the middle of the Bay of Bengal on the morning of October 22. It is likely to get worse and become a cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
