Archana Puran Singh wants to apply for a job as Neena Gupta | Bollywood

Actress Archana Puran Singh has revealed that people think she is only suitable for comedic roles, adding that as an actress she feels “deprived, cheated”. In a new interview, Archana revealed that her image in a comedic role is “so strong” that even after two decades of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, her character, Mrs. Briganza, still follows her. Archana essayed the role of the teacher Mrs. Briganza in the film.

Archana also said that as an artist she is “dying to act”, adding that the audience has seen “only one aspect” of her craft. She also said that she has a serious side and that she can do “much more than comedy”. The actor added that she can cry and she can also make people cry. He said that side of him “hasn’t been explored yet,” adding that it will happen one day.

Speaking to Indian Express, Archana said: “That chhaap (image) is so solid. Also, many people feel that they should offer me after Ms. Briganza. Almost 25 years have passed since the launch of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And the character still follows me. People also feel that I am best suited only for comedy. As an actor I feel robbed, cheated, and left yearning for good roles.”

Speaking of Hollywood, he said: “They say if you keep getting the same roles, it means you’re very lucky, that people want to keep looking at you. However, I feel like it’s the death of an actor. I remember Neena Gupta had once posted on social media looking for a job, I guess I’ll take this opportunity to ask directors and producers for jobs.”

Archana made her film debut with Abhishek and later appeared in Jalwa opposite Naseeruddin Shah. She was also a part of several movies like Agneepath (1990), Saudagar (1991), Shola aur Shabnam (1992), Aashiq Awara (1993), and Raja Hindustani (1996). Fans of her saw her in comedy roles like Love Story 2050, Mohabbatein, Krrish, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Masti, De Dana Dan, and Bol Bachchan.

She was also seen on TV series like Shrimaan Shrimati, Junoon, and Zee Horror Show. Archana has been a part of comedy shows including Comedy Circus, The Kapil Sharma Show, India’s Laughter Champion, and The Kapil Sharma Show.
