Any person who is a citizen of India and whose age is more than 18 years, can get their voter ID card made. If you do not have a voter ID card, you cannot cast your vote in India. Today we are telling you how to apply for voter ID card online. But before that, know that apart from a soft copy of a passport size photo you will need some documents to apply online.
Edge proof document (one of the lists below)
- Birth certificate issued from the Municipal Office or District Office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths.
- A 10th certificate issued by the school or any other major educational institution.
- Marksheet of 8th class mentioning the date of birth.
- Marksheet of 5th class mentioning the date of birth.
- Indian passport
- Pan Card
- driving license
- Aadhaar Card issued by UIDAI
An address proof document (one of the lists below)
- Current Bank Passbook / Kisan Passbook / Post Office Current Passbook
- Ration card
- Indian passport
- driving license
- Income tax assessment order
- Latest rent agreement
- Latest ration card/water/electricity/telephone/ gas connection bill, which contains the address of your home. This bill should be either in the name of the applicant or in the name of its
- parents.
- Any post/letter/ mail sent by the Indian Postal Department to the resident in the name of the applicant
NOTE
- If the ration card is presented as address proof, in addition to this, one of the other documents given above will also have to be submitted.
- Scan your passport size photo, age proof document and an address proof document and save it in the image format.
To apply for Voter ID Card, follow these steps:
- Go to the National Voter Services Portal website https://www.nvsp.in/ and click Apply online for registration of new voters/ due to shifting from AC.
- Now, Form 6 will open. Fill it completely.
- Select the language from the top drop-down menu.
- Select the name of your state and assembly / parliamentary constituency.
- Then fill all the necessary information like name, age, and address, etc. Fill in contact details After this, fill the information of the family members who already have the voter ID card. Some things will have a star, that is, it is mandatory to fill them.
- Upload your documents.
- Instead of filling the form and insert the Captcha Code. With this, you can save your completed form and submit it anytime later.
- Once you have filled the form, double-check everything and then click submit at the end of the page.
- After submission, a reference number will appear on your screen. Make a note of it. You will also get an email with a link from which you can check the application status of your voter ID card. It may also take about 30 days for your application to be processed and the voter ID card issued.
